History Of Dr. Who And Its Audio Books
If you have lived in one of the most important English speaking countries chances are it will have been difficult for you to of not, at least, heard of the Science fiction legend Doctor Who! With the return of the show in 2005 after a 15 year pause, DW is as popular as ever with episodes being shown on the international Science fiction channel and even on United States TV channels as well as the BBC's transmissions.
DW all began in November 1963 when it's 1st episode aired on TV taking the Dr. & his companions back into the past where they helped some cavemen to use fire for the first time. Taking into account the all-new series Dr. Who is currently the longest running Science fiction show of all time! The second longest running Science fiction series is Star Trek which began back in nineteen sixty thee, but does not presently have any new stories being produced.
During the mid 70s the BBC expanded DW into the audio median producing the 1st Doctor Who Audio. The 1st releases were for the most part soundtracks from the television shows with binding narration by the Doctors. It wasn't long before the BBC decided to take the audio releases to the next level by releasing audio book episodes solely for Audiobook release.
To add to this the BBC started making radio stories, again with past Doctors who had played in the series, these episodes were also made available in Audio format. Another good use the BBC have found for audio with Dr. Who is the re-creation of old stories that had been lost. There exist Audiobooks from the very 1st series all the way up to the most recent show with David Tennent and even Sarah Jane and Doctor Who Torchwood Audio.
In today's world audio is even more popular than ever thanks to MP3 players. Audio Books help us to obtain more out of our increasingly busier days, as it is so easy for as to listen to them while involved in additional everyday chores like working out, house work, driving, and other activities that permit multitasking. Also an important factor about audio titles is that they are often narrated by their original actors, which really adds to the whole experience. They are also a great choice for long car rides, especially with kids as there’s nothing like a good Dr. Who episode to keep them occupied.
The way things stand right now it looks like DW and its spin-off series torchwood and the Sarah Jane adventures are doing really well so things look good for fans to be able to be entertained by them for a number of years to come.
