Where can I find no-sew hook/loop closures like those used on Columbia pants?
I'm looking for a very heavy-duty, no-sew hook and loop closure similar to those used on Columbia pants (used for waistband adjustment). I have a pair of textile motorcycle pants and want to add second closure that can be hammered or pressed into place through multiple layers of fabric just like heavy duty snaps used on jeans. These fasteners sometimes have a plastic cap over them on the outside but that is not required. I have seen the Dritz no-sew hook and eyes, but they are not exactly what I am looking for.
Here is a link to a similar closure:

Answer:
You can use single clamp on bars and hooks to produce similar effects, e.g.: http://store.atlantathread.com/trhoeyclonty.html
These, I believe, are sew-on style: http://sewtrue.com/Store/Adjustable-Hooks-and-Eyes-P392.html
You might also call the folks around you who work on motorcycle leathers to see if they've got a spare or two they'd be willing to sell you.
The notions available at retail are far more limited than those manufacturers can get via wholesale. If you're near a garment district, you might ask around. Personally, I've always found the sew-in style more satisfactory than clamp-on.

Many people have tried these cable ties and they stink. The Velcro-like hooks and loops are tiny, which is why you get so many on a roll. But those tiny hooks and loops just don't hold. You might think you get a lot for your money, but rather, a heavier colored Velcro cable/wire ties. You can use them on power cords, network wires, and equipment wires in your lab. They're easy to use and the colors will let you code the types of wires you have bundled.
The hook-and-loop fastener was invented in 1941 by Swiss engineer, George de Mestral who lived in Commugny, Switzerland. The idea came to him one day after returning from a hunting trip with his dog in the Alps. He took a close look at the burrs (seeds) of burdock that kept sticking to his clothes and his dog's fur. He examined them under a microscope, and noted their hundreds of hooks that caught on anything with a loop, such as clothing, animal fur, or hair. He then saw the possibility of binding two materials reversibly in a simple fashion, if he could figure out how to duplicate the hooks and loops.
