Glass Office Partitions
Building infrastructural designs, material specifications and standards keep changing all the time. There is a constant effort on the part of Architects and designers to keep improvising the building designs to make them environmental friendly, eco friendly and energy efficient. Currently the buildings are being called Green buildings if they are compliant with the required standards.
Energy utilization is one of the key aspects that the architect considers while designing the building. The basic structural designs comprise of basic columns and slabs. The walls and interiors are completed using eco friendly, light materials and provide space for using innovative products.
Interior design of an office building does not come under the scope of the Architect. Interior designers who specialize in office furniture design and facility design take up the projects on turn key basis. Key aspects kept in mind while designing the interiors is the minimalistic use of space, light and energy coupled with using light materials.
Office furniture is provided by the building owners themselves, if the facility is being rented out as plug and play facility. This means all cubicles and cabins are already designed and installed by the owners. The customer needs to walk in to use the ready facility.
Office furniture designs are often based on modular furniture and glass partitions. Modular desks and workstations are easily movable and expandable as required. It takes a few minutes to assemble both the workstations as well as glass office partitions. When not required, the modules can be dismantled, packed and stored away conveniently. Glass office partition gives greater flexibility to create cabins, conference halls, discussion rooms etc very easily. Even the IT server rooms can be easily created in a few hours depending upon the need. More importantly, using glass office partition allows the flexibility of shifting the entire panels to a new location and re use. Using wooden partitions or other materials may not provide this advantage.
Handling glass meant for glass office partition can be tricky. Glass panels need to be handled with care. Often it has been found that the wastage percentage accounted for glass partition is higher in any project than other partitions. This is due to the fact that glass is easily susceptible to damage and breakage. However the overall utility and functionality of the glass office partition outweighs the loss. Glass panes are always brought to the site at the end of the project, just when it is time to fix them. Until then they are stored away to avoid breakage and damage.
Glass transportation is also managed very carefully. Glass sheets of the same sizes are crated using wooden planks and nails. Inside the wooden crating, they use hey, glass wool, separator sheets made out of plastic or any other soft sponge materials to keep the glasses safe and scratch proof. The wooden crating is painted with the required logos and marks to show the handling requirements. Normally the glass panes are transported using dedicated trucks and vehicles where in the panels are stacked with necessary padding to ensure they do not shake in transit and get damaged.
Every possible care is taken to ensure that the sliding glass doors reach its destination safely and makes for a beautiful office.
