My laptop has a CD/DVD drive, it was working great, but now it only plays DVDs and does not read any CDs.?
This is very strange for me, because the logic is that is something is wrong with the cd/dvd drive, why is it still able to play dvd's?, When a CD is inside it is not detected, when I try to search for files in that drive, this one is empty with no files. I have tried with music CDs and Data Cds, but the laptop just does not read them, but yes it does read DVD's. It was working great before and suddenly this happened?. Could be this a software related, or there is still a posibility that something is wrong with the hardware?. How can I fx it?

could be a hardware problem. My brother has a DVD/VCD/CD player before but then after sometime it couldn't read DVD's anymore. Maybe it's the lens for the CD function in your case. I don't exactly know what happens to the lens, it changes angle or whatever. But bottom line is, you need to replace it.
