What Do You Understand By Poly Tarps?
Tarps or tarpaulin is basically a large sheet which is strong, water-resistant and flexible. It is made of cloth, like canvas or polyester coated with urethane or polyethylene. It is also known as hootchie at some places. The word Tarpaulin comes from the compound of tar and palling which usually means a tarred canvas pall which is used to cover things on ships. Usually, sailors are known as tarpaulin or tarps. Many of the tarpaulins are made from polypropylene and hence these tarps are known as poly tarps.
To be able to tie down or suspend tarps, they have grommets at the corners and sides so that attachment points for rope can be made. This is made so they can be tied down easily. The latest in these tarps are All purpose blue tarps, light duty blue, medium duty brown/green, medium duty super white, medium duty forest shades green, heavy duty green/silver, heavy duty silver, camouflage and sunshield silver/black tarps.
These kind of tarps are water proof and prove to be good rain covers. All these tarps are constructed with high density resin with grommets surrounding its entire part. They are also tear resistant, mildew proof, acid resistant with flexibility. So, it works great at low temperatures as well.
There are many uses of these tarps like shelter from wind, sun and rain. It can be used as a drop sheet while painting. It can be used in camping as well. It can be used to protect the infield of a baseball field. Many other uses include advertisement printing for billboards and protection for outdoor market stalls.
So, all in all, poly tarps are very useful when it comes to protection from natural elements. They come in a lot of varieties and prove to be very useful for different occasions.
